StorageSync

iPhone · Mac · Coming soon

StorageSync is a personal cloud that cannot read your files. File contents and file names are encrypted on your iPhone or Mac before anything is uploaded, so the service only ever stores ciphertext.

What it does

  • Encrypted before uploadFile contents, file and folder names, and thumbnails are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM. The service stores ciphertext and wrapped keys.
  • Keys that stay with youYour files are unlocked by your password or by a recovery code that is shown once at sign-up. If you lose both, nobody, including us, can recover your data.
  • Near-real-time syncA change on one device is announced to your others over a live connection, so iPhone, Mac and the web app stay in step. iOS limits background work, so on iPhone it catches up fully when you open the app.
  • Share links with a private keyThe decryption key sits in the part of the link after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers. Add a password or an expiry date, and revoke the link at any time.
  • Add a device by approvalApprove a new device from one that is already signed in, instead of retyping your password. Sign in with Apple or Google proves who you are, but never supplies your encryption keys.
  • Trash and version historyDeleted files wait in Trash for 30 days, and earlier versions of a file can be restored.
